About the Neighborhood

Living in Patchen Woods & Chippendale

Patchen Woods and Chippendale are east Lexington's quiet convenience play — established streets tucked off Richmond Road, with the city's only year-round ice rink inside the neighborhood, two public golf courses close by, and downtown about four miles away. If you want everyday Lexington within easy reach and a sane price of admission, this corner of 40517 belongs on your list.
The neighborhood filled in through the '70s and '80s as Lexington grew out along Richmond Road, and it kept the practical character of that era: brick ranches, split-levels, and family two-stories on connected streets. What changed around it is the draw — retail along Richmond Road, parks, and the Lexington Ice Center turned this into one of the east side's most conveniently placed addresses.

Inside Patchen Woods & Chippendale

  • This is a neighborhood defined by convenience. Richmond Road borders it, so restaurants, groceries, and everyday errands sit close at hand, and New Circle Road makes the rest of the city an easy commute.

The signature amenity is the Lexington Ice Center and Sports Complex, right in the neighborhood — two indoor rinks with skating lessons and youth hockey, an indoor gym, and outdoor mini golf. It's the city's only year-round ice rink, and semi-pro hockey plays here too. Not many Lexington neighborhoods come with their own year-round rink.
